Matador · Motley County
Matador is the county seat of Motley County, a courthouse-square town of about 570 people where Texas 70 meets US-62/70. Head south and you're at the Helios gate in half an hour. Head northeast and Childress is about an hour.

The job
Also known as Argo · IREN Childress
Not everyone wants to sleep on top of the site. Matador puts you 28 miles north of Galaxy's Helios campus on a two-lane state highway with almost nothing on it—an easy half hour, and a town at the end of the day that isn't full of the same crew.
It also keeps options open. IREN's 750 MW campus at Childress is handing four new AI halls to Microsoft through the end of 2026, about an hour northeast on US-62/70 and US-83. Crews that move between the two jobs have used Matador as the middle.
Rooms are furnished and weekly, with kitchens, laundry and truck parking spelled out on each listing. Restaurants in Matador keep short hours; a kitchen is not optional here.
The drive
Distances are road miles the way people out here quote them—by the highway, not the crow. Ask us if the commute is the deciding factor; we'll say honestly which town fits.

The state park at Quitaque is about 35 miles north—bison, red canyon walls, and the only reason to drive north that isn't work.
