Frontier, and where everybody sleeps

Vantage announced Frontier in August 2025 as its largest investment anywhere: more than $25 billion for a 1,200-acre campus in Shackelford County, ten single-story data centers totalling 3.7 million square feet, and its own natural-gas microgrid. It is part of the Oracle–OpenAI Stargate expansion. The first building is scheduled to deliver in the second half of 2026 and the phases run to 2029.

Vantage's own numbers: 250 permanent jobs, and as many as 6,500 workers on site during peak construction. The nearest city is Abilene, which already absorbed the first Stargate campus—about 6,000 workers into a city of 100,000—and posted the second-fastest apartment rent growth in the country. A 2,300-site RV park is going up on the Abilene side; a 1,000-unit 'cottages' project has been proposed near the campus itself.

Albany is the county seat, about 1,900 people, a short drive up the road from the gate. Breckenridge is thirty miles east, Moran fifteen south. Rooms in these towns are the ones that don't require the Abilene commute, and they're the ones we're placing: furnished, weekly, with the truck out front.

Is Frontier part of Stargate?
Yes. Vantage is building Frontier for the Oracle–OpenAI Stargate program; it's the second Stargate campus in the Abilene area after Crusoe's. Our Stargate page covers both.
How far is Albany from the Vantage site?
The campus sits at the Highway 604 and Highway 351 intersection southwest of town, on the road toward Abilene—a short drive, not an hour.
When does construction end?
Vantage says the phases run through 2029. The first building delivers in the second half of 2026; nine more follow.
